Whether a toy, furniture, sporting equipment or an air freshener, I believe a successful product must be based on consumer insights. These insights are usually unspoken. It is within the space between what consumers say and what they do that one can discover their true motivations, needs and desires.
I try to make every aspect of a product have a clear and distinct message. This message must not only lie in the packaging design on shelf but also within the experience of opening the product and using it for the first time. My goal is to have every interaction with the product or solution convey and reinforce this message, leaving the user with a great memory of the interaction experience. .
IIn addition to incorporating great design into a product or solution, this solution must also be technically developed to achieve all of the user's needs while still meeting business objectives. Understanding what is most valuable to the consumer allows the most cost effective solution to be developed that not only meets the design goals but also the business goals.
