The sport of fencing has outdated equipment and numerous pain points for athletes. One of the biggest problems is a small set screw used in the captivation of a push button on the end of the weapon. This screw is susceptible to falling out which can cause a fencer to loose 1 point out of 5.

Interviewed fencers to understand potential areas of opportunity. Selected high pain point for fencer and low investment. Ideated over numerous solutions, created CAD model and developed relationship with supplier in China for prototype and production.

Developed injection molded plastic sleeve with spring clip replacement for set screw. Dore is hardened stainless steel to add strength and provide the proper electrical circuit.
